Have spent the last seven days productively? Or completely squandered them?
Either way, another week has passed and it is once again Boo's-Day! (trumpet flourish!)
Boo is pictured here with her nemesis, Mia. Yes, HER. Boo is decidedly a female. It was clear yesterday, when we noted HER cere turning a bit brown and krinkled. That is a classic hallmark of a female budgie. Other feminine traits include gnawing on sticks (although all budgies enjoy this).
And, another interesting Boo-note: When in a cage with Magoo, and Sutcliffe, Boo is the top-perch bird. Perhaps this is just her femininity coming into play? Are females the top perch sitters as a general rule?

I am keeping careful track of the hierarchies of the budgies. According to my records, a previous cage population yielded:
Mary Ann
Sutcliffe
Boo
Lola
in that order. Now we see that Boo is below Sutcliffe when Mary Ann is present, but above Sutcliffe when she is absent. Maybe Mary Ann is Top Bird, and makes her mate second if he is around? And if Mary Ann is not around, another female rules the roost?
It will be interesting to see what happens to Sutcliffe's rank when they are all together. Boo was a lot younger when with both Mary ann and Sutcliffe were with Boo before. I am thinking of moving all five together this weekend. I do think, that Mary ann is rather a protector of Sutcliffe. He obviously adores her, perhaps its not just for her lovely yellow curves, but also, her pushy protection of him!
Boo! Surprise--she's been hiding her true identity all along. The little hussy!
